If I had just three wishes...

Susan and I are always discussing who we'd like to feature at Music Under the Moss.  Most of the time, it's just dreaming, because we only feature two house concerts a year.  Right now we could book our shows on those wishes alone.  Below are some of the artists we'd love to feature at Music Under the Moss.  We've not many any serious effort to reach out to these artists to date...there's always next time.  It's just a wish list of artists Susan and I would love to have in our back yard.  This list is bound to change as we damn well see fit.

Sam Baker

Sam Baker is an Austin, TX artist that I've only recently heard.  He was significantly injured in a train bombing in the '80s and it affects him to this very day.  His phrasing is sparse, but his words are filled with meaning.  His guitar playing is minimal as well, but does effectively does the job.  His most recent album, Cotton, is simply stunning.  This track is off Pretty World, and tells his story of the train bombing.

Frank Morey

Frank Morey is pretty much a young beatnik who was born in the wrong generation.  He reminds me of a more guitar oriented Tom Waits both vocally and lyrically.  It's hard to get a Boston artist to Florida though where the artist isn't risking losing money in the process.  Here's an older tune of his.

Joe Craven

This gentleman is hard to truly appreciate unless you see him live.  I have a disc of his...really doesn't do it for me.  I have seen some live songs on YouTube...still missing that something special about Joe.  This is a man whole truly loves music, and wants to spread that everyone who sees him live.  We'll have to get him at our house when his show coincides with Springfest or Magfest since he lives in California, but we hope to make it happen some day.  This is a taste of his unusual but amazing show.

Charlie Parr

Charlie Parr is another artist who located very far from us.  This Minnesota artist has been releasing some of Bart's favorite albums the past few years.  A rough singing, finger picking, slide playing National guitar banging musician.  Great stuff!  Here's a recent solo live tune of his.

William Elliott Whitmore

A dark aura surrounds this man, but uplifting feeling you get from his tunes is what is so off-putting.  There is an old-religion vibe in everything he does.  No clue if we could get him down from Iowa, but I'd love to.  Here's one of his favorite tunes of mine.
