If I had just three wishes...

Susan and I are always discussing who we'd like to feature at Music Under the Moss.  Most of the time, it's just dreaming, because we only feature two house concerts a year.  Right now we could book our shows on those wishes alone.  Below are some of the artists we'd love to feature at Music Under the Moss.  We've not many any serious effort to reach out to these artists to date...there's always next time.  It's just a wish list of artists Susan and I would love to have in our back yard.  This list is bound to change as we damn well see fit.

Abigail Washburn

My wife also would opt for the entire Uncle Earl band, but I don't know if we could fit them on our "stage."  Amazingly talented lady who is brining in new and exciting influences to her banjo playing old-time music.  She's spent quite a bit of time in China when she was younger, and her new side group, the Sparrow Quartet, plays off that some more.  Having Bela Fleck in the band with you, isn't going to hurt you either.  Here's a recent video of the Sparrow Quartet.

Malcolm Holcombe

I'm not sure he wouldn't scare the hell out of half of our guests and confuse the rest.  It'd still be a great ride.  Mix John Prine and Tom Waits, leave it on the front porch to age a few decades, and you have Malcolm Holcombe.  I believe he'd be one of those shows, and you'd walking away swearing you saw pure genius or a stark raving lunatic.  Either way, it'd be one hell of an experience!  Here's a taste of him live.

Frank Morey

Frank Morey is pretty much a young beatnik who was born in the wrong generation.  He reminds me of a more guitar oriented Tom Waits both vocally and lyrically.  It's hard to get a Boston artist to Florida though where the artist isn't risking losing money in the process.  Here's an older tune of his.

Charlie Parr

Charlie Parr is another artist who located very far from us.  This Minnesota artist has been releasing some of Bart's favorite albums the past few years.  A rough singing, finger picking, slide playing National guitar banging musician.  Great stuff!  Here's a recent solo live tune of his.

Mindy Smith

No clue if she's doing house concerts these days.  Susan found her through a tribute video to an elephant at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.  Such strange places we find artists.  Very intimate sound she's crafted, and we'd love for her to be the first lady to grace our "stage."  This video is from a tune off her most recent album.

William Elliott Whitmore

A dark aura surrounds this man, but uplifting feeling you get from his tunes is what is so off-putting.  There is an old-religion vibe in everything he does.  No clue if we could get him down from Iowa, but I'd love to.  Here's one of his favorite tunes of mine.
