Extra Things That Makes Springfest Great...

Things of note from this year's Springfest.

All we had to do is get Mic and Geri to attend one Springfest, and they'd be hooked as Susan and I.  Our friends from Tallahassee were finally able to make it this year.  They've now already bought tickets for this coming fall's Magnolia Fest.  Susan and I won't be able to make it, but I think it's a great testament to just how amazing a weekend of music Springfest is.

The RV we rented this time was great.  It had warm water (a rare commodity if you rely on the local showers), and it had heat at night (except for one night).  We left the CD player on inside the RV thinking it ran off the connected power, but instead, it ran down the battery for the engine.  What made it worse was that battery also helped light the pilot light for the furnace.  So Susan and I froze our butts off that night.  We blame it on Nick Annis...it was his CD we were playing so much that night.  After we jumped the RV the next day, we had wonderful heat the rest of the weekend.

We missed the playing of music this year around the campfire.  Due to many last minute problems, many of the musicians from Panama City weren't able to make it.  It was weird coming back to the camp site and having no music already in motion.  Hopefully that can be remedied next year.

I was able to catch most of the music I wanted to hear this year.  I did miss the Avett Brothers though, and the tunes I heard online sounded right up my alley.  I also would have liked to have seen Sam Pacetti play with Gabriel Valla, because I heard this set was a great one.  Of course I would have loved to see a whole set of the Del McCoury Band when I was warm and dry, but at least it wasn't the storm from hell like last year.

Here are some of the great albums we snagged this year...

Nick Annis - Steal the Cow
Abigail Washburn - Song of the Traveling Daughter
The Mammals - Departure
Daddy - At the Woman's Club
The Biscuit Burners - A Mountain Apart

We can't wait to go again next year.  This festival has really become an annual "breather" of sorts for my wife and I.  A great way to clear your head.
