Miscellaneous Springfest Items...
There was a bunch of other little things that made Springfest so special
for us. Here are a bunch of the things that just didn't fit in with the
other pages...
- The main stage area doesn't have real seats. You bring your own
fold-up chair and leave it there for the day. The cool thing is that
if you want to see someone close-up, you can use someone else's chair
that is vacant during that set. It is accepted practice for people to
use other people's chairs as long as they understand they have to get
up when the chair's owner returns. This allowed us to get up and close
to several performers even though we didn't have our own chair there.
- The guy directing traffic in a pink tutu was classic. The next night
he was directing traffic in a full Batman costume.
- Susan and I went the back way to the Main Stage, and we almost had
our own Blair Witch Project moment. We were out in the middle of nowhere,
and it was DARK.
- Drum camp is away from the rest of camp, but they beat drums in
a tribal form until the sun comes up.
- Everyone was very friendly.
- Playing music each night after the acts on stage ended. If you don't
play, there were campsites all around that had those who did. You were
more than welcome to sit down and enjoy the music.
- Debating whether the charcoal bricks by Kingsford weighed more/less
than generic ones, and if it mattered for a dutch oven.
- Finding out that Ron, Bart and Andy know waaaaaay too many Monty
Python quotes.
- Great breakfast food everyone morn.
- Everyone tripping over the root near the campsite fire.
- Bart and Ron trying to put that picnic table together.
- COLD showers, because they always seemed to be out of anything resembling
warm water.
Bands I missed that I wanted to check out...
That's pretty much it. We're definitely going next year, and we encourage
everyone to go who can.
Let's head back to the Concerts Page...
