Well, I went and saw Marc Broussard tonight while in Birmingham. He's a young
kid with a great voice, but his brand of soul didn't do much for me in the end.
He has that one great song that I saw on TV called "Home." It's what they
finished with and that was the only song that really did anything for me. The
girl that sang with him for some songs also opened for him. I ended up liking
her more in the end, and her name was Shannon McNally. It didn't hurt that at
the end of one song that she said she liked my shirt which was a Tom Waits
shirt. So the lady has some damn good taste...hehe.
One of the better moments though of the evening was when we had some young
20-something girls next to us just jabbering away and pretty much ignoring the
artist (we're right up next to the stage). I can't tell them to shut up because
I'm a "big mean guy." And some stupid jock will try to come to their rescue, and
I just don't want the drama. What was funny was that the girl beside turned
around to them and said, "Shut the fuck up!" They stood there appalled like they
couldn't believe that someone was annoyed by them.
I'm glad I went because it gave me something to do while in town on business,
but it didn't encourage me to purchase any of his CD's. I'll just resort
to buying the song(s) I like through I-Tunes instead. The guy can still
sing, it's just his preferred genre of music isn't my cup of tea in the end.
